WOODY TREND
Woody Trend is an Atlanta local, long time skater and artist whose work was recently featured on the cover of Concrete Wave's
annual buyer's guide (get yours while you still can!!!). Woody works with several mediums but is most known for his intricate mosaics of glass.
The deck mosaic "Fennessey" shown in the image is Woody’s tribute to local Atlanta vert pro, Ray Fennessey. It is the first in a series entitled "Legends of
Skateboarding" which so far has included 3 decks with many more to come (Another deck in the series is a famous shot of Chris Miller!). If you are interested in Woody's art work and would like

Well, the end of 2008 is here and 2009 begins! First off, sorry for the lack of updates recently...holidays, personal life, etc. have kept me busier than normal. But never fear, I plan to get back to it and more focused in 2009 on making AOS better than ever! I hope you'll be along for the ride! Thanks for a great 2008 and see ya in the new year!!!

Steve Caballero has an upcoming solo show “Gas, Gears & Grease” this Saturday night, November 1st where he will be displaying his photography and artwork. The show at San Jose’s Black and Brown gallery runs through December 15th.

Tony Hawk & Jon Favreau this Oct 30 THURS night

Not sure if anyone knows (or much cares? Those Anti-Hawk Haters club members know who you are. haha) but this thursday night at 10pm EST on the Sundance Channel the "Iconoclast" series brings together Tony Hawk and Jon Favreau. I really dig that show because they pair together some interesting folks from way different backgrounds and they just kinda hang out (best one to me so far was Eddie Vedder and Laird Hamilton). Anyways.....previews for it seemed pretty cool. Just a heads up.

Auction Advertising Abuse?

Seems some folks are trying to take advantage of it and advertise either non-auction items or non-skate related or whatever. Well...time to take care of that, I suppose. Some folks can't play nice and have to be kicked out of the sandbox. Hey, I learned from the best...Slob-Air, moderator of the Skull & Bones forum! So yeh...some auctions ads deleted today....and they know why. Thanks for the heads up from the people that emailed about them...that's community!

Verification problems

I added some fixes today for a verification problem that people were having with the second step (ie. putting in the confirmation code). Hopefully, this will clear them all up...and end all the "I can't verify" emails. haha

All apologies...site issues....resolved?

All apologies for any continuing issues you might be having with the site(trust me, I have been having wayyyyy more!) I think we got them straight today. First off, the new host did not register the DNS for the database, soooo....that's why it was soooo slow trying to figure out where/how to connect. Also, they change how I "see" IP addresses coming in (so lots of code to change). Lastly, I have been trying to add some code in to "trap" some of the hack attempts that have been coming (sorry if anyone got a scare when trying to sign in/up!) So, I think things are sorted out now and I can get back to working on the new site version. Thanks again for your patience and understanding. Granted, this is a one man operation, but I try to make us appear a little more professional around here. haha

15th annual Sickenburg Skate Jam goes off in AZ!!!

Ok, ok....not the 15th but it has been going for a while now and is still one of my favorite contest/jams to hear about. Rob Locker and the good folks at AZPX put on a heckuva event every year! This past weekend (Sept 27), they did it again. The small park in Wickenburg (slightly NW of Phoenix,AZ) has an incredible bowl, and the AZPX folks bring the party to it every year! Site downtime and updates

Big "oops" to all those that tried to become members or change profiles over the past week or so. My host had the site "unable to update" as they moved and upgraded servers. All should be good now. Past that, I am having to deal with constant hack attacks here lately by stupid script kiddies, soooo......all that takes work away from AOS version 2.0 ....which is "soon"!!!
