Ok...not to scare anyone, NO, AoS is not turning into some kind of subscription pay-site. HOWEVER, Jan 1st(or so) Price Guide details will be accessable to MEMBERS ONLY. Visitors will still be able to search and view summary results pages, but only members will be able to click-through to view the details and so forth. Membership is FREE, so it should really be no big deal. This will just allow me to keep a better idea on who is coming to the site, ie. reward the *real* visitors and weed out the "bots" (unassisted programs that scour the web to index pages as well as scrape email addresses and such). The site is coming up on 1000 registered members, however, it averages about 2-3 times that amount of unique hits a day. Keeping in mind that bandwidth after a certain limit is not free (I have a 3G transfer per month limit as of now), then it doesn't take much math to figure out that I need to be able to justify bumping the limit if necessary. I do not charge for advertising nor do I charge for membership. The site is sustained by my own money and the donations that come in every so often. I also do ALL of the programming and administration so that "labor cost" is chalked up to "love". haha I guess it's the growing pains of success or whatever you want to call it. =) Trust me, it does hurt to have to put this "limit" in place, but I hope you all understand and support my decision. I am very proud that AoS has done so well in it's short life thus far, and I hope this won't drive any folks away. If anything, I hope it helps identify that many more friends that we have in the collecting community!
