Busy week this week for some of the pros finding our little slice of heaven here....one-time Planet Earth skater Mark Schnurr and veteran New Deal pro Fred Olande both found AoS and caught me up on what they are doing these days.
First, Mark wrote in around Monday or so. He sends "Just been working for this IBM distributor, and skating after work. I went to the Emerica premier last night. It was fun, and the vid was good. I think I had about 7-8 boards out. Not sure. I had a box full of them when I lived in LA, but when I moved back here I didn't bring them. I was living with Koston at the time, and he's moved twice since then. So I'm sure he tossed them out. I have one that I could send you a picture of. Anyway, good yapping with ya."
On Wednesday, Fred Olande caught up with me. After a demo here in town years back (Fred, John Montessi, and Neal Hendrix), Fred and I became friends. Every once and a while he would write little articles for a zine I ran (Trindee). Soon however, we kind of lost touch. He wrote the email to AoS with no idea that I was the wizard behind the curtain. haha So it was good to catch up again. He sends, "Chris, what a small world, Good to hear from you after so long, I work for a finance company in San Diego and there is not a day goes by that I am not thinking about skateboarding. I had 14 decks out there and I only saved about 5 so your help would be greatful in getting me some help in trying to locate some of these. As for Montessi I have not talked to him in years. I remember Birmingham well as one the great times I had on tour of going to your buddies house ["Smithgrind" of Team Ping]playing pool all night long drinking beer."
Sooooo as you can see, both of these guys are trying to hunt down some of their old decks (funny how all the pros from days past seem to never had the foresight to save some of their decks...haha). If you have any info or can help these guys out, please contact me here at AoS, and I will get them in touch with you. Thanks!
