Sam Cunningham sends an update(source AoS / reported by AMORONE)

from Sam Cunningham to AOS...
"Amorone,

I surf your site all the time! It's really cool that you're doing it, historical preservation. I found it through a link from another site most likely, not sure which one, though. Super cool and very well done, you're doing an excellent job. I think it's one of the best skate related websites. I have it bookmarked.

The pic of the deck I sent is my first model, it came out in '85 I think. That board in the pic is the first one I rode, and I have a mint one in storage. Those first Blockhead boards were made by Uncle Wiggly, they were thin and had a fiber-laminate that made them really light. The graphic is kind of kooky and I never really liked it, Dave the owner liked to use simple clip art for graphics. You can probably find that exact thing in an eighties collection of clip-art. Eventually Dave hired this kid named Ron Cameron to do all his graphics. Ron was the first person I ever saw pop an ollie up onto a curb. It was way before The Gonz! Anyway... Ron's art eventually made Blockhead what it was. He'd hang out at the 'factory' and doodle on the main shipping table and that's where most of the graphics were born. I remember when he did the 'nothing is cool' drawing and we were all just cracking up, the next thing I knew Dave had stickers made. Those were the good old days. So anyway that's the story about that board. I'd been meaning to send the pic and finally got around to it. That ought to complete my collection on your site. One of the boards that's on there, the complete, it's in my collection. I bought it on eBay!

As for what I'm doing now, I'm living in Berkeley, California and working at the university here. My job is to make sure that the researchers on campus take proper care of their live captive cold-blooded animals, like snakes! Isn't that odd. I've been here 12 years now. I never once quit skating, never gave it up. I'm 42 now and skate a little less frequently but I have just as much if not more fun now than I ever did. I mostly skate around the Bay Area but I've been travelling some. I went to LA last weekend and skated Glendale and some other places, and skated a top secret bowl on Maui last month. Blockhead re-surfaced a couple years ago and made a few boards for me. I just started riding for Tracker trucks again, stoked on that. I collect 60's clay and steel wheel skateboards. I have a super hot 26 year old girlfriend and we have a humongous 20 pound cat. Anyway blah blah blah enough about me.

If you ever come across anyone selling my old models let me know. Yep I'm one of those dumb asses who never had the foresight to save any of my models. Well, I saved a couple. But there are some I'm looking for, mainly the older ones from 88 - early nineties. And the 60's boards, of course. I attached a pic of some of the boards in my collection.

Take it easy and thanks again for the bitchin site and the kind words. If I come across more stuff for your site I'll send it to you.
