I got a few emails asking what the deal is with the *recent* rash of "Nike Dunks limited edition decks" showing up on eBay and going for around $150 or more. Well, I was not so sure myself so I went to the source...luckily, a good friend (and collector) works for Nike Skateboarding (SB) and gave me the scoop. Per "my friend"....
"Nike SB has nothing to do with these. I know; I've been working for SB for the last two years. My friend Chris Casey ( from the Captain and Casey show on fuel tv) used to work at Hot Rod and started this deck as a joke. When the collectors would call looking for the shoes he would say 'yep, i got the new dunk in blue and white right here'. They would rush down to find a shop deck made by HOT ROD skateshop. The old crew all left Hot Rod, and from what I've heard the shop is much different [not so much only a skate shop anymore]. The shop was the best shop in LA a few years ago. These are HOT ROD [dunks] shop decks and come in a bunch of colors. ".
So there ya have it. Apparently they come from Hot Rod shop in LA (www.hotrodlifestyle.com).They make nice wall hangers, but they are NOT official Nike SB products. Take this info for whatever you will. Just letting you know. As I say..."buyer beware". =)
By the way, this same company (Hot Rod) makes a series of decks called the "Cease and Desist" series that are popular old school early 90's graphics...like the Jovante Turner "at Night" deck and the Colvin "Censorship" deck...you will see those floating on eBay too. Again....buyer beware.
Hope this helps....AoS is just looking out for you! haha
