The newest edition of Skateboarder magazine features an article called "15 Things You Did't know About...Skate Collectibles". It's fairly interesting, and they even mention our good friend, Sean Cliver's, book "Disposable". However, they proudly exclaim (yes, even the blurb is in bold text) that the highest price paid for a single deck is $11,250 for a Neil Blender "Coffee Break". Not only is that completely wrong, but it's completely funny if you know how they got that number. Thinking back for a second, I clearly remembered that Blender. Why? Because it was posted wrong on here !!!! The user on here had posted it incorrectly as $11,250 when it should have been $1,125, so it sat on the "Top Sellers" number one spot for about 3-4 days till I caught it and corrected it. What's worse...not only was it wrong, but the seller was suspended from eBay so no idea if the actual price/deal even went through! Soooooo at first, I was kinda ticked that an article all about collecting with apparent facts from AOS made no mention of us at all, but in hindsight, I sure am glad they didn't reference us for that glaring mistake! (haha) In our own defense, had Skateboarder contacted us or had the writer of the article done some fact checking (even looking up the item in the Price Guide to check if the price had been verified), then they could have avoided that mistake. Oh well....maybe they will print a collection in the next issue(haha). in any event, the article is a pretty good read. At best, it gets more people involved in collecting and unearths some gems from garages, attics, storage, etc. At worst, we will see a whole lot of kooks on eBay asking $1000's for their $50 deck! (haha) Pick up Skateboarder today and check it out!
