Near dawn, an odd thing happened .the rain suddenly stopped. And
then a much odder thing happened. All the bowls had like a foot of
water in them. Suddenly, this hippy looking guy appears, goes to each
bowl and clears the trash from the drains and watches them all drain
and dry up .and then he was gone!!! We dubbed him "the Drain
Fairy". It was truly magical .as if on queue, right as first
light appeared, everything dried up. There we were the 9 or so
of us with the ENTIRE Louisville skatepark to ourselves. Stoked!!!
We all padded up and got down to skating .ok not everyone .Phil
and Barry were asleep in Phil's SUV, and The Green Monkey so completely
wore himself out that he fell asleep right next to the top end of
the full-pipe bowl I mean like 4 feet from the lip!!! The rest
of us skated with what energy we could muster. It was perfect because
it gave us a chance to find lines and figure out the park without
the normal crowd around.

By about 9 am, a crowd had begun
to gather the locals and others were on to the fact that
the park was dry. We were all dead tired by then and ready to
eat and find a hotel. We loaded up and set off. First mission .a
place to stay. We did not know it, but the biggest hot rod show
of the year was in town too. We were told it would be near impossible
to find a hotel. About two exits south of the park, we pulled
off to grab breakfast at Shoney's .the grand Shoney's buffet
called us forth!

After breakfast, we decided to check out the
Holiday Inn next door just for the hell of it sure enough, they
had two rooms available. Cool!!!! We booked them, unpacked and all
proceeded to pass right out.
Around 2pm, we all regained consciousness,
were recharged and ready to skate. Back to the park !!! By now, the crowd was much larger. We all jumped
right into the mix!

Throughout the day, we all had a good time….met lots of people
(about 15 or so others showed up for AoS-fest…not bad for the first
one and the half-ass publicity done for it…haha)…..no one got hurt…no
police hassles….nothing but a fun session as planned!
