Got a Strange House/5 Points deck for a Viking Funeral. Good deal.
Other stuff was broken out. Vintage magazines, Eric Martin's amazing
quiver which included a Hobie Greg Weaver, a rad Quicksliver &
an autographed Z-Flex Jay adams. HOO-BOY! |
| LUSH: Swag distribution went well, though
I'm still holding several SM & MED t-shirts that none of us could
shoehorn in to on a good day (*sent those to albertstrange for the
"decks for needy kids" deal). Thanks again to all the sponsors
for all of the donations !!! |
| Amorone: At some point, Lush finally
showed back up and began hauling deck after deck after pile of shirts
after deck from his car. I guess it was swag time! haha He and I had
toyed with ideas of how to dole everything out, but in the end, we
choose to take the path of least resistance....there was plenty to
go around for everyone. Basically, folks got to go up one by one and
choose from ANYTHING in the piles...decks, shirts, hats, pirate eye
patches, stacks of stickers, etc. The first round was for folks that
had donated other items for the swag giveaway. Then pretty much everyone
else that showed up for AoS-fest were given their turn. It was pretty
cool seeing some of the folks seem so shocked that they were really
getting something...I remember one guy saying "I can really go
pick out a deck...or a shirt...any deck? anything?" I almost
had to convince a few that "yes, this is real and no, this is
not some hidden camera 'make you look like an ass' show" It was
fun all around and would not have been possible without Lush's hard
work! For me, one of the highlight's of the swag giveaway was watching
Green Monkey and Gusto dance around in the pirate eye patches….too
funny! |

| Zodiac13: The drinking has continued
throughout the session. The parking lot party rages on. (please note:
I got a late start on drinking because, apparently, I have girl parts.
No bonus awarded.) |
| Amorone: The swag giveaway wrapped up
right around dusk. More drinking and more skating continued. (No pics
of the night skating for some reason? mmmm) Everyone was kinda rotating
from skating to hanging out and back again well into the night. The
Five Points crew had the van grill going great. Some of the locals
joined us and said they were trying to arrange a house party as a
"surprise" and to say thanks for AoS-fest II there....I
thought that was cool as hell! But during all the planning and figuring
out where everyone was , who was staying, who was going, etc. our
plans got changed for us.... |
Zodiac13: Part 3: "Ohioan's are
cop magnets, dude."…So, as I was saying, there's some serious
drinking, grilling & shit talk going on in the lot. The sun goes
down. Everyone 's feeling allright after a day of skating. Or sitting
in chairs, or wearing a surgical mask they found in the parking garage
AND now a pirate eyepatch, or whatever it was they did all day. Everyone's
feeling good, allright? Allright.
Cops. Time to go.
TGM gets hassled. Tim 5 Points gets hassled. ShackleMeNot almost
loses a fake I.D. in exchange for a real one. It gets confusing.
We decide to bolt. After an amusing car ride back to the hotel in
which Gusto provided running commentary corresponding to AC's phone
conversation, we head back out into the night.

| The Green Monkey: The cops will lightly
hassle you for drinking in public, even if everyone is using a Dixie
cup. They will ask you to please take the drinking to the far side
of the lot, so that the juveniles can't see you, and also so that
the donut-doing-drifter-drivers will run you down. |
