Back out to the park early. Some of yesterday's big names headed home either last night or early Sunday morning and were not going to be a part the day's events, so today was way more laid back. Lance Mountain, Christian Hosoi, Sergie Ventura, Sasha Steinhorst and Don Bostick had all left. Packy and his Virginia crew had started the long drive home last night. Tim Johnson and the Kona crew headed back to Florida in the RV. Load, Jimmy O'Brien and Ray Fennessey cut back over to Atlanta while they could beat traffic (Nascar's big Talledega race the same weekend and is halfway between Birmingham and Atlanta). Some had to get ready to fly off to China for the X-Games, some partied too hard the night before, and others simply just needed to get back home. The plan for the day was just several fun little contests (best trick, highest air, longest air, etc) along with a chance for everyone to skate with the pros and have a good time at the park. The day started with a bowl session for whoever wanted to step up and skate. Even I finally put down the cameras and got a chance to skate my home bowl. It was fun to skate with my regular local bros as well as new friends we had made over the weekend. Of course, seeing the ripping skating that had been going down, everyone was more amped up than usual and trying new lines and tricks. It was a good start for the day as the crowd got in settled for the rest of the day's events. | ||||||||||||||||
