| With the weather looking sketchy, the organizers wanted to get things underway as soon as possible. First up was the grom division. This was strictly for the little guys and gals and beginner skaters. It is always great to see their enthusiasm and spark in their eyes. Makes me smile to see them and know the next generation is gonna be just fine. | ||||||

| Once the groms cleared out, the contest shifted to the open amateur division. This contest was split into an early jam. The top finishers from the jam would go on to skate in the finals later in the day. This probably should have been split into intermediate and advanced divisions, however with the weather still looking spotty, it was best to run them together. On the positive side, it pushed the "intermediate" level skaters to skate with the "good" skaters, but it also pushed the better skaters to make sure they stuck their tricks and remained focused on the contest. Win-win for everyone! | ||||||
