Out to the park early to help set up, take a few runs myself, and hangout. As usual, I pulled up to find the park already filling up and more people coming along. This is always the best time to walk around, catch up with old friends, get folks hyped about the contest, meet new folks and skaters coming from out of town, etc. It is truly the "calm before the storm". The best part was finding my way to the Barbecutioners tent and grabbing some lunch before the contest got underway. The Barbecutioners opened up for lunch around 11:15pm-ish with a line already waiting. By noon, they were already sold out!!! WOW! This year started out with some awards first as the groms practiced. Pat and Tim gave out the Spinosi award which went to Alabama longtime skater and legend, Mark "Shreddings" Eddings, and a special "thank you" award to Bacon skateboard's Tim Johnson for coming up from Florida to be the guest judge this year. After the awards, the contest was underway... | ||||||
