The 6th Annual Pat Wachter Bowl Contest |

GROM(beginner)/ Intermediate Division |

Around 12:30 or so, the contest finally got going. This year the beginners and intermediates were combined into one division due to low number of entries, but these guys put their hearts into it nonetheless. I always say I love this division, and this year was no different. You get to sit in the front row and watch these little guys really get into it. To them, it might as well be the X-Games they are competing in for the big prize. I get stoked watching them get stoked on what they do and working through the nervousness. | ||||||

Women's Division |

Next up, the ladies took over the bowl. Every year, Pat goes out of his way to make sure that the women have a spot in the contest and money prizes to be won. Sadly
though, after the first year of the contest, the number of women skaters to enter has dropped each year. I hope we can turn that all around and spread the word to make the trip worth it
for more female skaters. Nonetheless, Hannah Chumley (daughter of Atlanta skate legend, Mike Chumley) and Shayna-Raye Funderburk from Tennessee made the trip. Since it was just the two of them,
Pat and the judges just made it a special treat. They cleared the bowl and just told Hanna and Shayna to have fun skating. They had their own session for a good 20-25 minutes. Both were
ripping it up, cheering each other one, giving each other high-fives and just smiling ear to ear.
