Skate sesh and cold beers... |
||||||
Well, after walking around and around and checking everything out about ten times, we were ready to go skate. We talked to Mountain and Olson and tried to gauge what their
plans were. The show was ending at 5pm for the day, but they had to be back at 8pm for an after-party that was planned nearby. Mountain wanted to hit Brook Run skate park after seeing the bowl
but it was well north of where we were. We tried to talk him into the newer Old Fourth Ward park which was right around the corner (and more fun in my opinion). Olson was down for whatever (haha).
They said they would make it if they could, and we said good-byes again for about the fifth time (haha).
Our crew headed over to Old Fourth Ward where we met up Death skateboards pro and good friend Dave Allen as well as Will Boatwright and Dale Struble. We had a nice little bowl session in the "Humbler" (the big bowl...no, I mean BIG...about 12 in the deepest end, 7 in the shallowest). It was a good time, but we were beat. About the time Mountain and Olson showed up for a quick few runs, we had to go. We had a long drive back to Birmingham with only a pause midway to stop for pizza and beers for dinner. It was a good end to a great day. I hope one day my own town of Birmingham will host such a show! Maybe AOS needs to make that happen.......Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (haha) |
